In this seminar, students will learn ancient Thai foot massage. Thai foot massage is the application of massage pressure onto particular areas of the soles of the feet. A reflex action in another part of the body is stimulated by the manipulation of each specific area. Thai foot massage uses hands, fingers, thumbs, knuckles, and a rounded wooden stick with massage lotion or massage oil.

Learn to identify and treat various types of headaches using the Kurashova Re-education technique. Kurashova Re-education, developed by the late Zenya Kurashova Wine, uses a series of intentional vibration and pressure techniques to provide a non-invasive approach to retraining muscular tissue and correct dysfunction.
Chad Blomquist graduated from the Institute of Therapeutic Massage and Wellness in 2006. Post-graduation, he got the opportunity to extensively train with Zenya Wine, the pioneer of Russian Medical and Sports massage in the US. He eventually became a Certified Kurashova Re-education Practitioner. Chad has treated over 1000 individuals with fibromyalgia, migraines, and piriformis sciatica with successful results using the techniques of Kurashova Re-education. Chad has helped positions in chiropractic, family practice medical, and spa clinics. In 2016, Chad earned his Electrical Engineering degree, and massage therapy allowed him to work full-time while in school. Since massage and client pain relieve is still a huge passion for him, he currently operates his own private practice in Rock Island on a part-time basis.

In this introductory class, students will learn the basics of Thai Massage strokes and will slowly emphasize compression and rocking. The use of manual stretching techniques will be incorporated while using hands, palms, feet, knees, forearms, and elbows. Will be taught using floor mats. Clients remain clothed during the treatment. Bring a blanket and pillow, yoga mats, and a Thai mat if you have one. Dress in yoga attire.
Advanced Athletic Stretching for Massage Therapists

This course is designed to enable students and practitioners to aid athletes in pre- and post-event stretching. Certain types of stretching should be used at certain times of the athlete’s event; attendees will learn how different techniques, timing, and intensity are important and how and when to use them to best benefit the athlete. This course will include both a lecture and hands-on portion. Athletic or loose clothing should be worn in order to get the most out of the class.
Lindsey attended Utah State University as a Track and Field athlete, where she also earned a Master’s Degree in Sport and Physical Education. She owns her own massage practice in Bettendorf, IA, which is geared toward athletic and everyday performance. She specializes in techniques including FAKTR, deep tissue, myofascial release and cupping.

This course is an introductory survey to Reflexology, for massage professionals interested in the Complementary and Alternative Modality of Reflexology. Using an overview of classic data and current techniques and research, Reflexology is presented as both a Complementary therapy and a Palliative therapy, for a range of health conditions. The course covers basic anatomy and physiology, as it relates to Reflexology; primary therapeutic points on the feet, introduction to treatment techniques from selected specialists, and basic introduction to application of manual reflexology palpation. This class is considered an instruction class for certification in Reflexology, and as an introduction to the benefits of incorporating reflexology techniques into an existing LMT practice.
